President (by default) of Zoar Board of Ohio Erie Canal Association. Hoping to move trail beyond Zoar. Recreation is larger draw than history. Sixth year as President. More projects: semi-annual Civil War reenactment; town hall renovation; CDs and DVDs; book publication; parking lot above Zoar Tavern; Cemetary improvements; and renovation of old oubuilding for educational purposes. Projects between Fort Laurens and Zoar: trail surfacing and Iron Bridge repair of 2005 flood damage. Towpath brings business, tourism and recreational use; improves quality of life. Improving the lands spurred commercial developments. Funding is a challenge but Canal Corridor upgrade, events, and word-of-mouth bring visitors. Need to encourage more people to re-locate here.
