Where: Dampeer Room, Kelvin Smith Library, Case Western Reserve University
In celebration of Octavofest, Kelvin Smith Library and the Rowfant Club jointly present an exhibition and memorial of the work of master bookbinder Jan Bohuslav Sobota. The exhibit will open with a symposium on Sobota’s work led by Robert Cheshier, Ladislav Hanka and Nicolas Basbanes. We invite the community of book-lovers in Cleveland to join us to view Sobota’s fascinating vision for the art of the book and the living tradition of craftsmanship that he fostered.
Sobota’s work will continue to be on display during regular business hours in Kelvin Smith Library’s Hatch reading room October 20th through November 30th.
