Abstract,"Allen Ford, resident of Judson Manor, relates experiences growing up in Shaker Heights during 1930's and 1940's.  Has vivid memories of WWII and how it affected daily life.  Personal experiences riding the Rapid Transit and downtown Cleveland shopping, importance of Rapid to his family.  Describes the opening of Colony Movie Theater at Shaker Square and its Art Deco interior.  He talks about the sights and smells of the steel mills,downtown department stores, holiday windows and streets. Personal information regarding education at Yale and Case and work at Pickands Mather Co.  Attended night MBA program at Case in 1960's and metalurgy classes at Fenn College. Describes operations of Pickands-Mather, iron ore mine management for various steel companies.  Ford's personal perspectives on decline of steel industry in United States;foreign competition, high labor costs.  Ford's ancestor,early resident of Cleveland, Samuel Cozad, owed much of what is now University Circle,said to have operated Grist Mill near Doan Brook. History of Euclid Congregational Church, and description of interior. Develpment of UCI and its relationship with Case Western Reserve University,  when Goddard was Chairmen of Board at Case in 1970's.  Evolution of University Circle.
