Abstract,"Bob Reeves,  former Projects Director at Cleveland Corporation discusses several downtown projects included in Master Plan for Cleveland;Public Square, pedestrian mall on Euclid Avenue.  Reasons pedestrian mall idea did not work for Cleveland.  Cleveland Corporation did not have good relations with Dennis Kucinich. Describes first year at UCI and evolving role of community development corporation.  Development of UCI land bank and overzealous land acquistion, eroding of trust with local residents. Master plan for University Circle developed to guide future of cultural institutions, destruction of residential areas to benefit institutions.  UCI is working to rebuild trust in area by creating viable residential areas along with commercial and cultural development.  Discusses how land banks operate.  Names cultural instituions that have come into existence, changed locations, and closed down since the 1950's;Botanical Gardens, Children's Museum.  UCI has an architectual board involved in all building in area. Buildings reflect many styles of architechture.  Renovations to Art Museum will improve the layout and look of the building.  Wade Oval improvements have increased use of Oval festivals and concerts.  MLK corridor projects being planned and completed.  Reeves explains how corner of Mayfield and Euclid has properties owned by either UCI or Case Western Reserve.  Points out value of University Circle to Cleveland area, unique in country."
