Join us in celebrating Northeast Ohio’s active community of book and paper innovators and our magnificent library and museum collections of fine and rare books during Octavofest 2017! Events will highlight The Artistry of Children’s Books.

Emily Martin

Our featured guest is renowned book artist Emily Martin, who will make a variety of presentations on several topics, including her recently completed Pantone Postcard Project. Martin earned a MFA degree in painting from the University of Iowa, having previously earned a BFA and MA in drawing and painting, respectively. She will participate in Octavofest events from October 25 - 28, and her books will be on exhibit at the Shaker Heights Public Library throughout October.

Other presenters include Ben Sapp, Mazza Museum Director, who will discuss the museum's collection of international artwork and children's literature and Keith Allen, designer, illustrator, and paper engineer from Cleveland with more than 10 years professional experience in product design at American Greetings, who will highlight his craftsmanship and entrepreneurial skills with the publication of his most recent pop-up book, What a Mess: A Pop-up Misadventure Book.

Other events planned by Octavofest sponsors including libraries, independent bookstores, and school districts will include origami and book making workshops, artists demonstrations, panel discussions, and more!
