Merit Scholar Exhibition

Merit Scholar Exhibition

Each year the Department of Art at Cleveland State University awards Merit Scholarships to support the education of promising art students who are selected on the basis of the artistic merit of their art work. All Cleveland State University art students, including incoming freshmen are eligible to apply.

This special exhibition provides an opportunity for Merit Scholars to display the art work that they have created during the scholarship period. Conversely, it gives fellow students and the public an opportunity to see the work that the scholarship supported.

The works on display represent the efforts of Merit Scholars of all levels, from beginners to advanced, as well as works produced in a variety of media. The Art Depatment offers studio concentrations in painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography, and graphic design.

In addition to the production of works of art, each student is also responsible for the installation and professional presentation of their art in the Gallery context.

The faculty of the Art Department hope that you will find these Merit Scholar exhibitions educational and enjoyable. Please appreciate the talent, skill, and effort evident in the creation of these works of art and in the presentation of these exhibitions.

Applications for Merit Scholarships are available in the Art Department office –Middough Building 203B, or call (216) 687 2040.
