Dr. Stephen Krashen’ work in the second language acquisition has been influencing how language is taught in a classroom in the last 40 years. The comprehension based instructions from Teaching Proficiency Through Reading and Storytelling (TPRS), Movie Talk (MT), Embedded Reading and Story Listening to Total Physical Response (TPR) and Natural Approach, etc., have fundamentally challenged a traditional grammar-driver language class’s status quo, and impacted the real classroom applications; hence, the result of proficiency.
