This morning, following his first night in jail, Sam Shepard ate cornflakes and milk, coffee and bread, then wearily laid back down on his cot. Shortly after 8 a.m. his two attorneys arrived. They had been turned away earlier in the night by the assistant chief jailer, Joseph Yusko.
