Description

In this workshop, participants will explore multicultural literature – what it is, what we learn from it, the value of sharing universal truths from other cultures’ stories and narratives. The series of four workshops provides an overview of multicultural literature suitable for the very young, elementary, middle, and high school students. Stories and books will highlight several cultures – Asian, Native American, African-American, and Hispanic. The selected books have received outstanding literary awards, including the Asian Pacific American Award for Literature, Coretta Scot King and Carter G. Woodson Awards, among others. Learn ways to integrate this outstanding literature into your classroom teaching.
