Social Justice Initiative

The Great Lakes Regional Counseling Psychology Conference, Cleveland State University Counseling Psychology Program, and Student Affiliates of Seventeen (SAS) would like to invite you to participate in our social justice initiative for this year's conference. We ask that you consider bringing suggested items listed below, gift cards, or monetary donations to the conference for the Cleveland Domestic Violence and Child Advocacy Center. They are in desperate need of baby supplies (disposable diapers of all sized and wipes) and supplies for their Art Therapy program (wish list below). Additionally, they are always happy to receive gift cards to "everything" stores such as large Department Stores in which they can do one stop shopping for a variety of needs. Finally, used cell phones are of great benefit to this organization. We ask that you consider urging your place of employment, family or friends to donate new and used cell phones. Working or not, old cell phones and batteries can be recycled to raise funds that support victims of domestic violence and child abuse or be given to survivors of domestic violence to call 911 in case of emergency. In addition, we will be collecting monetary donations and items to support the efforts of the Cleveland Foodbank. Everyday millions of people are uncertain where their next meal will come from. The Cleveland Foodbank seeks to bridge the meal gap, connecting individuals with the nutritious meals they need to succeed. We ask that you consider bringing monetary donations, food items (beef stew, canned soup, canned vegetables, peanut butter, cereal, or tuna) and hygiene items (deodorant, laundry detergent, shampoo, soap, toilet paper, toothbrush, toothpaste). We will accept donations throughout the weekend and will spend an hour during the final day of the conference packing up and delivering donations, which you are also welcome to be a part of.
