The Lucia Greens Pathway Park is an example of Fairfax Renaissance Development Corporation’s adaptive reuse of vacant land to promote connectivity on a walkable scale. The Lucia pathway transformed back-to-back vacant lots between Lucia Ave and Amos Ave into a linear park connecting the two parallel streets. Such parks reorient neighborhood space to make new neighbors by allowing access that previously was awkward because of the original street layout. In addition the park is visible from one end to the other and has become an appealing place to walk and gather. Images show the land before and after the park was created.
