Photo 24: Fireplace Tongs
These fireplace tongs were discovered on November 17, 1982 by the Vargos, the current owners of the home occupied by the Sheppards' neighbors, J. Spencer Houk and Esther Houk in 1954. The Bay Village Police sent the tongs to the Coroner's office for testing. See Vargo, Paul G., Police Statement
In the 1960s, F. Lee Bailey had theorized that J. Spencer Houk and Esther Houk murdered Marilyn Sheppard.
