Abstract
Irene Burkheart grew up in Cleveland and was from a family of Polish immigrants. She attended Flora Stone Mather College and soon became a teacher. Her life was dedicated to teaching, tutoring and raising her six children. She raised her family in University Heights. The later part of her life was spent traveling with her husband across the United States in their own airplane and flying around the world with the People to People Program. She spends a considerable amount of the interview describing all of the places she visited and her experiences on those trips.
