Program Description
As part of the Purdue University Libraries’ commitment to Open Access, the Purdue University Scholarly Publishing Division has collaborated with Purdue Conferences to provide opportunities and solutions to share outputs from conference events affiliated with Purdue University, both on and off campus. Our division has become an integrated part of the Purdue Conference conversations with clients at the front-end of the interaction. Conference coordinators with the Purdue Conferences unit assist new relationships between Purdue Scholarly Publishing Services and Purdue Conferences clients. Conference coordinators remain involved with the relationship between the conference organizers and publishing staff throughout the course of the project. Using the Digital Commons platform, with Purdue e-Pubs, the Scholarly Publishing Division meets the variety of needs coming from clients. Purdue Scholarly Publishing Services include handling traditional proceedings that may include print components, providing access to video content, and simply providing that online publication outlet after the event is over. Further services include assisting with manuscript submission workflow management, from the initial manuscript submission through the peer review process and all the way to final publication of content. This presentation will describe how the partnership developed, the workflows used, and some of the challenges and strengths of this growing relationship. It will also cover some of the successes the Scholarly Publishing Division has had in presenting a variety of conference outputs, the different approaches we have taken to address varying needs of the diverse organizations, and additional new opportunities that have grown from these newfound relationships with conference contacts.
