Bay Village Police Department
Henry Fuehrer stated that he had been in Cleveland on July 3 and had met with a man he called "Pal" at a bar. The two drank and smoked marijuana, and "Pal" wanted to burglarize a home in Bay Village to get money. Fuehrer was hoping Pal would leave the keys in his truck so he could steal it. Fuehrer stated that they arrived at a house and he stayed in the car and fell asleep. He awoke to a noise that he believed was from a burglary going bad, and fled the scene and city. Pal's true identity was unknown. Fuehrer described him as having a "heavy shock of hair."

Statement of Jay Hubach to the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office: In this statement Jay Hubach recount's his initial impressions of the crime scene at the Sheppard home on July 4, 1954. Hubach was called by fire department chief Walter Koch, informing him of some trouble at the Sheppard home. Upon arrival Hubach was informed that Marilyn Sheppard had been murdered. The statement continues to describe the crime scene, including where Marilyn was found and what Sam Sheppard was wearing.

J. Spencer Houk recounted to Bay Village Police what happened on the morning of July 4, 1954. He stated that Sam Sheppard called him and said "Spen, my God, get over here quick, I think they've killed Marilyn." When he arrived he saw Marilyn Sheppard, apparently deceased. He noted that Sam had injuries and that his desk drawers were strewn over the floor.
