Abstract
In recent years renewable energy sources participation at grid has taken center stage. They introduce unbalance situations at grid side with being intermittent source. This paper introduces a novel near constant switching current control method for two level three phase PWM boost type converter under extreme unbalanced operating conditions at unity power factor. It eliminates input and output harmonics using hysteresis band controller with three independent controls in a, b and c frame and uses virtual flux estimation technique to achieve near constant frequency operation. A comparative result with constant hysteresis band controller method demonstrates effectiveness of the method at extreme unbalanced conditions using MATLAB/Simulink model.
