Abstract

Gantz and Ashkenazi have reached the highest rank in the Israeli Military (IDF), which, in Israel, is second only to the Prime Minister in fame and prestige. Both were wrong, however, to assume that the same norms and same hierarchical order exists in a democracy. Thus they betrayed over a million of their voters and joined Netanyahu after running three consecutive election cycles (in less than a year), all the while promising their voters they would not do so under any and all circumstances.
