Program Description
LibGuides can be a valuable tool for librarians disseminating OER content, but LibGuide management is a task that often ends up on the “back burner.” Additionally, recent changes to ADA Title II require publicly-funded entities, including universities, to ensure our digital content meets accessibility standards. In this session, I will describe lessons I learned from a recent accessibility audit of the 100 LibGuides I inherited when I began a new position last fall. I will provide specific, concrete tips for beginners managing a large LibGuide catalog and librarians undertaking any level of accessibility remediation. Topic: Equity and Access Learning outcomes: —Describe the value of LibGuides in the context of open educational resources. — Develop long-term strategies for sustainable LibGuide management. 3. Identify techniques for both immediate and ongoing LibGuide accessibility remediation.
