Description
“A Tradition Re-Interpreted: New Works by Chinese Artists” is an exhibition curated by Professor Qian Li from Cleveland State University with academic advice by Prof. Zhijian Qian from New York City College of Technology of City University of New York. The first of its kind in Northeast Ohio, the exhibition features most recent works by Chinese contemporary artists who re-interpret the great tradition of Chinese art in their fascinating exploration of formal, stylistic and material aspects in the rapidly changing economic, social and cultural realities of China. This exhibition presents a diverse selection of Chinese contemporary artists, and includes various media including Chinese traditional painting, photography, digital animations and site-specific installations. The works address an array of relevant themes including environmental issues, historical traditions, economic development and life experiences. This exhibition will communicate the impact that contemporary art has on everyday life in China.
