Mr. Rickey Tax is the featured guest of Octavofest 2016. He is the Head Librarian and Acting Director of the Museum Meermanno, the Dutch Museum of the Book. The Meermanno, in The Hague, The Netherlands, established in 1848, is the oldest book museum in the world.
About the Speaker
Rickey Tax was born in Amsterdam in 1965 and graduated from the University of Amsterdam in 1991 as an art historian. During his work as a librarian in the Amsterdam University Library, he attained courses and master classes in book history, codicology and paleography, including several at the Institut d'histoire du livre in Lyon (France). In 2009 he graduated from the Plantin Institut for Graphic Arts in Antwerp (Belgium).
He has been working in Museum Meermanno, the Dutch Museum of the Book, since 2002, curating the so-called Modern Collection, i.e. printed material and archives after 1848. Some recent exhibitions include Vogels! (about books on birds) and Het boek van binnen (an historical overview of book production).
