Himalayan Book Experience, July 28-29, 10 am - 4 pm
Description
Explore the Himalayan book starting with the paper itself. We will prepare pulp for papermaking using different Himalayan fibers, construct the moulds and make a sheet. We will also dye the papers using a variety of natural dyes. We will then use the paper we make to construct a stitched Tibetan binding structure. Having traveled the Himalayas at length to research Tibetan books, Jim Canary will provide a selection of Himalayan woodblocks to use for printing.
