Description
Here's a great way for children ages 6-9 to learn to make a simple book to give as a gift or to keep or to keep for themselves. We'll start with a simple folded structure; then using drawing and collage we'll make our textblock for a second book and finish by putting our drawings into simple and attractive covers. Students may bring photos or other images to collage as well as their favorite art supplies (no paints, please!). No other tools or experience necessary, just your imagination!
Fran Kovac is a student and teacher of bookbinding and uses all the curiosity of both in her private practice in Cleveland, Oho. A student of the history of bookbinding, Fran has recreated historic bindings and uses many historic techniques and sewings in making contemporary decorated bindings. Since 2009 she has taught at the Morgan Conservatory, Hollander's in Ann Arbor, Michigan and for San Diego Book Arts. Her bookbinding studies have included classes with book historians Julia Miller, Pam Spitzmueller and Jim Croft, among others.
