Abstract
This Comprehensive Plan has been prepared by the residents of Southington Township in partnership with Cleveland State University's Center for Community Planning and Development, Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs (CSU). The Plan has a simple goal: Provide a clear vision for the future of Southington, aligned with the desires of our citizens, and based on our past, present, and expected future. Change and growth will come to Southington Township, perhaps more quickly than expected. This will be especially true when public water and sewer infrastructure comes to our Township, expected during the life of this Plan. The only way to ensure that we do not lose what makes our community unique is through careful planning, as directed by the community.
This plan was unique, prepared by a core working group of community members, with technical assistance and mentoring by Center for Community Planning and Development staff. A larger Citizens Advisory Group offered feedback. The result was a comprehensive plan that is professional and affordable, and is tailored to the community's priorities. The planning process also resulted in an educated group of citizens who are prepared to implement the plan, and to take positions of leadership in the community.
