Description
"Workmen clean up oil at Wildwood Park beach" --photo verso.
After the barge crash of 1976, crews were able to contain the damage by extensive cleaning efforts. Fuel oil congealed in the lake water temperatures making it difficult to skim off the surface; large steaming coils were installed that brought oil to a more fluid consistency.
Oil spill cleanup cost $300,000. (1976, May 24). Plain Dealer, p.11A. Retrieved from NewsBank.
