Abstract

After his essay Des hommes justes: Du patriarcat aux nouvelles masculinités (2020), Historian-writer Ivan Jablonka felt compelled to publish an autobiographical account of his personal experience growing up and being raised as a boy entitled Un garçon comme vous et moi (2021). This article investigates the originality of Ivan Jablonka's individual perception of manhood in a collective "gender autobiography" bridging social sciences with literature, and discusses the universal quality and relevance of his appeal to new ways of thinking masculinity.
