Description

The John Hay Cleveland Early College High School has been consistently recognized as a School of Promise by the Ohio Department of Education. Last year, 100% of the students graduate and 100% went to college (virtually unheard of in CMSD). In a recent article in Cleveland Magazine, French teacher, Sara Bekhouche, said of principal Carol Lockhart, “ She has these little phrases that she uses with the kids, but she uses them with everybody… .My favorite from her is 'Make it happen,' because she'll just look at me and say, 'Bekhouche, make it happen.' " What Sara Bekhouche “made happen” was an interdisciplinary curriculum based on The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks used across all classes, including math and participants in this session will learn how this remarkable feat was accomplished.
