Author Biography

Tom Adamich is a Digital Asset Librarian (since 2011) certified teacher-librarian (since 2000), and a librarian since 1991. A graduate of the Kent State University (Ohio) School of Library/Information Science and KSU College of Education School Library Media Certification), Tom was a teacher-librarian and consultant for the Indian Valley Local Schools (Ohio) from 1999-2009 and is president of the Visiting Librarian Service, a contract librarian firm he has operated on a full or part-time basis since 1993. Recently, Tom also served as the Cataloging Librarian/ Government Documents Librarian and Assistant Professor of Learning Resources at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from 2005-2008 and Head of Metadata Services/Government Documents Librarian, Muskingum University from 2008-2011, where he administered both the library’s technical services operations and managed its participation in the Federal Depository Library

Program. Tom’s current research focus is scholarly communications metadata, multimedia-based digital asset management, semantic technology, analytics, and ontology/taxonomy management. Additionally, Tom has researched topics in the arena of K-20 cataloging/metadata creation -- exploring their connection to school curriculum, critical thinking skill development, and standards-based education; he has participated in numerous cataloging utilization studies and continues to write extensively on the topic.

Jill Caton is the program coordinator and assistant professor for the Health Information Technology program at Terra State Community College. She graduated from Owens Community College with an Associate's of Applied Science in Health Information Management Technology and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from the University of Cincinnati and holds the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
