Abstract
The article discusses the group theory and symmetry in spectroscopy. It also explains the Great Orthogonality Theorem (GOT) and focuses on its applications such as the symmetry descriptions of molecular vibrations and the partial determination of the value of an integral. It states that the reducible representation needs to be separated into its irreducible components.
