Dr. Elizabeth Lehfeldt, Cleveland State University
Dr. Elizabeth A. Lehfeldt is Dean of the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Honors College and Professor of History at Cleveland State University. She is also Vice President of the Teaching Division of the American Historical Association where she has been a project leader on the organization's Tuning initiative. The Tuning Project is a national, faculty-led project to articulate the disciplinary core of historical study and to define what a student should understand and be able to do at the completion of a history degree program. Dr. Lehfeldt has taught for twenty years at Cleveland State at all levels of the history curriculum: introductory Western Civilization surveys, specialized courses for History majors, and seminars for graduate students

Abstract
The American Historical Association has given considerable thought about what the role of the humanities and particularly the role of history is within general education. Many of the ideas and recommendations of the AHA apply across the disciplines. Dr. Lehfeldt will discuss the AHA "tuning" program.
