Migration History: The Global, The Personal, And How These Levels Connect

Presenter Biography

Tiffany Trimmer, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of History at The University of Wisconsin at La Crosse. Dr. Trimmer received her B.S. in History and Politics at Drexel University and earned her M.A. and Ph.D. at Northeastern University, conducting research in political struggles over immigration quotas, and labor migrants’ wages and working condition in Singapore and the Malay Peninsula in the early 1900s. Dr. Trimmer also researches the British Empire and World History, showing the inner connected nature of history. Dr. Trimmer says that she has “the responsibility to help readers understand the experiences and agendas of migrants in cases where they were not permitted to participate in the policymaking process themselves.” Cleveland State University is honored to have Dr. Trimmer present at The Migration in Global Context Symposium.
